In this article, we’re going to show you the best features of social housing projects that make this kind of option useful for you and also affordable, in the promising urban metropolis, Badr City. The citadel of social housing in Egypt holds a large number of social housing projects, and the largest number of units presented by different projects.
The History of Social Housing in Badr City
The social housing programme offered by Badr City consists of three phases:
The first phase: 14,000 units that have been implemented from 1984-2014
The second phase: includes 35,000 units, with about 16,608 completed units while the rest are still in progress.
The third phase: includes 12,000 units, which are still in progress.
All three phases combined make 61,000 units. 30,608 were completed and 25,000 are in progress.
Social Housing for people with low-income
As stated above, Badr City has the largest number of units in its social housing programme. The city has rapidly grown since 2014, where the number of units implemented from 1984-2014 is about 14,000 units, in addition, from 2014-2016, the number of new units reached 16,608.
Social Housing apartment features
Apartments are generally about 90 square meters in social housing projects, divided into 3 rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a balcony.
As for the finishing, you don’t need to worry. Badr City’s Council obligates contractors to implement a set of specs in coordination with the Egyptian Army Executive Authority.
The specifications are usually precise and detailed, as they include things like the ceramic, door handles and the wood used in the apartments. The contractor is also required to answer and maintain any complaints by clients.
Social Housing Programme’s Services Facilities
The Housing and Development Authority is following a new policy in terms of building residential projects, where all facilities, services, and units are being provided simultaneously, meaning that the residents will receive their units with all facilities and services already implemented, according to the new directions of the president. This makes the apartment ready for immediate residence.
About 90% of the services and facilities of Badr City are already done. Most importantly being:
Shops
There are two options for shopping in a two-story building of 42 shops, which is the central market. The smaller markets consist of about 8 separate shops, all to guarantee the convenience of the client.
Public Transport
This was used to be an issue for the residents of Badr, either inside or outside the city.
However, this was solved as 7 passenger cars were assigned to transport residents inside the city.
For transport to or from the city, 4 buses were provided, solving the issue completely.
Educational Services
The city includes a daycare and schools for different educational stages, along with two universities.
Health Services
There is a 100-bed hospital inside the city, and several clinics.
